ULTRANESIA is the duo formed along with Rubén Coll working together on curatorial and radio projects. As ULTRANESIA, we co-signed LIMO, Músicas Corrientes, and together we been working sin 2017 on Archipiélago 2017-2023, Mid-Casting for RRS 2018, Ciudad Bailar Podcast, Wet Togetherness Podcast for Office for Political Innovation, e-flux and PS1 Shanghai, 2021.
“ULTRANESIA, it’s a name we gave ourselves as a collective, you could say. And there’s something interesting, which some people have pointed out to us: it’s Ultranesia, because nesia is archipelago in Greek, but it’s “ultra” and not “meta” because ultra in Latin means “beyond” in geographic terms. Like plus ultra. And since we were working on the trade winds, on musical mutations… we liked that, even though the meaning was “incorrect,” it FELT RIGHT to keep two words about geography. Ultranesia would be something like “the archipelago beyond the Archipelago.” It’s like inhabiting our own archipelago, and invite people in.
